Can we pre-book a tree?

We are a small, family run Christmas tree farm, and stocks are limited. We sometimes have less choice of popular size trees towards the end of December. If you would like to leave your tree in the ground for as long as possible, but still want a great choice, feel free to get in touch and arrange a time to pre-book your tree. We will happily leave a reserved label on the tree until you are ready to collect it.

Do you sell rooted trees?

We have a variety of potted trees available each year. They are grown into pots so usually are a maximum of 4ft tall. We are limited to the number of pot-grown trees we have each year, so we advise getting them early. We are also happy to arrange a time for you to call up and pre-book your tree before our official opening.

What kind of trees do you grow?

We grow Nordman Fir, Noble Fir, Norway Spruce and Blue Spruce. Info on each variety is available on our trees page.

Is a fresh cut necessary before putting a tree in a water stand?

Yes, If possible. After time, generally 3 to 6 hours, the cut stump gets air in the plant tissue, which lessens a tree’s water absorption capacity. A fresh ½ inch cut will reopen the pores that take up water.

How large should my water stand be?

Choosing a large water capacity stand is the most important step to maintaining your tree’s freshness. Check the water level daily, trees can drink large amounts of water each day, particularly pre-cut trees during the first week of display. Generally, a tree can absorb up to 4 litres per day.

What if my tree doesn’t seem to be absorbing water in the stand?

If you’ve followed all the care tips there are a couple of things to consider. First, if you cut your own tree at a choose and cut farm, it will not absorb water right away since it has not had time to begin drying out. Second, the best indicator of dryness is the tree itself, not the water level in the stand. The rate of water absorption will fluctuate from day to day. This is normal.

Isn’t it bad for the environment to cut down a tree and use it for Christmas?

It is much better environmentally to use a locally grown fresh tree and recycle it after Christmas. Real Christmas Trees are a renewable, recyclable, natural product. Every year, two new seedlings are planted to replace every harvested tree. These would NOT have been planted if trees hadn’t been harvested the previous year. Fake Christmas Trees, however, are a non-renewable, non-biodegradable, plastic and metal product most often made in overseas factories, they have a large carbon footprint and mostly end up in landfill.

Where can I recycle my tree after Christmas?

Bring it back to us! We will happily receive your festive forestry tree back (you can just leave it outside the tree farm). We chip them up towards the end of January and add the mulch back into the soil to enrich it for next year’s growth.

Can I dig up my own tree?

Sadly no, we have attempted this several times for customers, but it rarely results in a usable tree due to the root damage that occurs. Our rooted trees are in pots as above.
